Tīaho Fashion Awards

Vicki Dixon —

Sam Tipa Crocket is part of a combined senior Art Wear and junior Kete Wana class that are designing and making entries for the Tīaho Fashion Awards that will coincide with Matariki celebrations in late June.

Sam is in Year 10 and has chosen to represent his Scottish heritage in his design. Sam has a class buddy who is a senior and he can get assistance and advice from her to help him realise his design when he needs it. So far Sam has completed the turtle neck top and is working on pleating the kilt.

Our class Whakatauki for this project is: He waka eke noa (We are all in this together leaving no one behind. We rise together, fall together, keep going together.)

Final details regarding dates and venue will follow shortly. Watch out for this information in the daily notices and on posters around the College over the next week. In the mean time, consider using the holidays to create your own entry and be part of this fun event that celebrates our diversity and togetherness.
