New Staff

Jenni Holden —

We would like to extend a warm welcome to new staff at Hagley College, and give them a chance to introduce themselves to you.

Sara Mousa

Salam – Kia ora – Hello everyone. I have been working at Hagley since June as the Programme Coordinator for the Diversity Services Department. Since moving to Christchurch from Egypt in 2015, I have been involved in the community in a range of roles, and this position at Hagley is both challenging and satisfying to me. I find Hagley such a welcoming and friendly workplace and I look forward to supporting my community, the refugee and migrant students who come here.

John Cowie

Kia ora! I am part of the Property Team here at Te Puna Wai o Waipapa with Graeme, Freddy and Neal. I do daily general maintenance work around the school, carpentry projects and other duties. I am from Christchurch but trained and worked overseas in cabinet making and graphic design. Previously I was a senior designer for the in-house marketing team at Ballantynes and before that a Graphic Journalist for the Press. I started in Term 2 and I'm enjoying the variety of the job and meeting new people.

Isaac Bennet

Kia ora! I was born and raised in Christchurch and attended Hagley for all my high school years. I did my Bachelors degree and Honours in Music at the Christchurch Jazz School, before receiving a Diploma in Secondary Education from the University of Canterbury. You will find me in the Music department doing my work as Arts Coordinator. It feels good to be back!

Kia ora, e te whānau. I feel incredibly grateful and lucky to be a part of the Hagley team, and it’s lovely how welcome everyone has made me feel. My background is in education, and I have taught in schools both here and overseas. Before joining Te Puna Wai o Waipapa, I was teaching a Hauora programme in local schools. Currently I’m completing a Masters degree and working part-time as a Guidance Counsellor with the fabulous team at Simpson House.

Tēnā koutou. I am incredibly grateful to have joined the English department here at Hagley College. I recently finished a teaching diploma at the New Zealand Graduate School of Education. Before this, I did a Masters degree in English Literature at the University of Canterbury. I am teaching Year 9 and Year 12 English, and Year 12 English for Future Skills.

Michelle Pope

Kia ora! I'm so happy to be part of the Hagley team this year as a Teacher Aide. Before coming to Hagley I completed my postgraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Canterbury, where I also worked as a Teacher Assistant and coordinator. In recent years I have also been working as a facilitator for mental wellbeing workshops with Reframe Wānanga, and training as a speech language therapist. It's great to be a part of such a positive learning environment, and I'm looking forward to continuing working with Hagley's awesome kaiako and students.

Lisa Allan

Hi! I'm an arts administrator, event organiser, theatre creator and teacher, and yoga teacher. I'm a past student of Hagley Theatre Company, graduating in 2000, and I went on to form and direct/co-direct a number of independent theatre companies: The Loopen Experiment, Blackbird Theatre, Body in Space and Wintergreen Creative. I am the co-founder of the Nelson Fringe Festival, and directed this event for its first two years. In 2015, my husband, Dan, and I were awarded Nelsonian of the Year for our work in the arts.

Nancy Yan

Kia ora everyone. I am so happy to be part of the Hagley family. I am passionate about education and student service, and I have gained vast experience in interacting and communicating with learners from diverse backgrounds over the past six years working in the tertiary sector. I am currently working as the Administrative Assistant for After 3, working in the Enrolment Centre for the next few months.

We would also like to welcome the following staff: Catherine Horne (Student Systems Manager, and teacher of Maths), Rebecca Wilkinson (Accounts Assistant/Payroll Support), Joanna Krakowiak (part-time Science Lab Technician), and Kit Erceg (Cyclone ICT Technician). Welcome to you all.
