NCEA achievement 2022

Marie Stribling —

Student achievement results in 2022 were positive, despite the fact that face-to-face learning was once again disrupted for many in 2022.

Many teachers and students had to isolate because of their own illness with COVID or because others in their household had contracted COVID. This meant that, once again there was the need, at times, to rely on the online learning platform, Teams, to deliver programmes of learning to students.

It was pleasing to see that our Year 12 and 13 results showed an upward trend while the national statistics at both levels trended downwards. 100 (55.4%) students achieved a Level 2 certificate; 90 students achieved a Level 3 certificate and 74/147 (50.3%) students who were entered in UE programmes achieved University Entrance. Results for our Year 11 students showed room for improvement, however, with 51.6% of our students achieving a Level 1 certificate. One of the factors we have identified which has contributed to these results at Year 11 is poor or inconsistent attendance. We know that there is a high correlation between attendance and achievement, so one of the ways we will be addressing this in 2023 is through a focus on the MOE’s Attendance and Engagement strategy.

Congratulations go to students who achieved certificate excellence endorsements:

Level 1 certificate: Eli Watson, Lexie Hamilton, Bianca Luong, Eve Tonascia, Jasmin Hollister, Jesse Easterbrook, Nikki Encina, Nicola Sutherland, Mia Huk, Grace O’Brien, Alex King, Ngaio Dann, Sienna Moore, Isla Webster, Lily Hundleby
