Ngā pitopito kōrero nō Te Ao Māori ki Te Puna Wai o Waipapa

Jasmine Lambert —

Whakawhanaungatanga Wenerei:

Every second Wednesday lunch time, our whare is abuzz with ākonga getting to know each other, our kaiako Māori, and connecting with te Ao Māori within our kura. Whakawhanaungatanga (the process of establishing relationships) is especially important at this time of the year, as we welcome many new ākonga Māori from Year 9- 13 to our whānau. We also use this opportunity to share news, and of course, share kai! Our next whakawhanaungatanga Wenerei is scheduled for 15th March.

Hui Whānau:

Our first hui for all whānau Māori is taking place on Thursday 30th March (week 9) from 5:30pm -venue TBC. This is a good opportunity to get to know other whānau with rangatahi here at school, to find out more about what’s on offer this year, and to have your say about what you’d like to see from us as a kura. We’ll provide dinner, and it’s an event for the whānau so pēpi and tamariki are more than welcome to attend. Here’s a link to RSVP to this hui https://forms.office.com/r/Hj22G5c8WC

Te Urungi:

We are seeking members of our whānau to join Te Urungi, a steering group that is made up of our tumuaki (principal), tumuaki tuarua Māori (DP), kaimahi Māori reps (staff), ākonga Māori (students) and a Board of Trustees member. We discuss questions such as: what are we doing well to support our ākonga Māori? What improvements can we make as a kura? What do our whānau and ākonga aspire to in education and beyond? What’s happening in Te Ao Māori and how can we recognise or celebrate those things within our environment?

We meet on the third Thursday of every month from 4-5pm. Our next hui is scheduled for Thursday 23rd March. If you are interested in joining Te Urungi, please contact Jasmine Lambert on JL@staff.hagley.school.nz Ngā mihi!
