Outings in Spring
11ELC went on a few outings in the springtime.
This was a chance to show students places they could go to in the summer holidays as well as end the year with a number of nice group trips. The first outing was a walk to the Botanical Gardens to see the daffodils and the blossoms. The Gardens are a lovely place to visit at any time of the year. Easy to get to and free! There’s a nice playground with a little swimming pool and a great café.
Next, we went to New Brighton beach with all the Community Classes at Champion Street. It was a beautiful, bright, sunny day. We walked along the pier and the beach. Then we had a picnic and played games together.
We had another beautiful day at Barbara’s farm. We really enjoyed looking for duck eggs in the long grass. We saw chickens, cows and their calves, sheep and their lambs and a donkey. Then we had a lovely picnic together under the trees.
Another outing was our walk in the city. We
walked along the beautiful Ōtākaro path, along
the Avon river to the Margaret Mahy playground. We had a lot of fun on the
slides! Then, we walked along pretty New Regent Street to Tūranga, our wonderful city library. We looked around
the library from top to bottom. We saw a lot of books in Persian and we enjoyed
looking at the city from the outdoor gardens at the top.
Our last trip was to Spencer Park with everyone from Champion Street. First, we went for a walk along the beach. Then we played games: tennis, volleyball, football and petanque. At lunchtime, we had a wonderful BBQ together. Later, some of us went for a walk in the forest. It was a fun day and a great way to end the school year.
