Junior Prizegivings 2019

Junior College student achievement was formally recognised at the Year 9 and Year 10 Prizegivings which were both held in the final week of school.
The Year 9 ceremony was held at Hagley in Gym 2, and we were pleased to see so many parents and whānau able to attend to help celebrate with us. The Year 10 event was at St Margaret’s College, with a bumper turnout of parents and whānau.
Te Puna Wai o Waipapa Kapa Haka rōpū performed to captivated audiences for both events, providing a wonderful energy and support for students gaining awards. The Year 9 event featured the waiata ‘Ka Puāwai te Koru’ being sung by the whole of Year 9. This waiata was written by Nova Taukamo, Sophia Bennett-Davis, Elle Kavermann-Akurangi, Chantelle Rakich and Regan Stokes.
Other Year 9 performances were by the Ukulele group (Jorja Hutton, Nova Taukamo - vocals, Lilly Anderson, Sophie Dawson and Sofia Boggiani) who did a very smooth performance of ‘Wade in Your Water’ by Common Kings; and ‘1,000 Years’ by Christina Perry, performed by Aisha Pratt, Sophia Bennett-Davis and Trinity Walshe. The Year 10 performers were Sean Tonner, who gave a flawless rendition of ‘Maple Leaf Rag’ by Scott Joplin; and Sienna Friend, Keira Huntley, and Rowena Woffenden who did a stunning performance of their self-written piece ‘Arcade Summer’.
Congratulations to all subject prize winners and Te Putanga certificate recipients – your hard work and commitment to learning is reflected in these achievements.
