Te Whare Tapa Whā

Te Puru School —

Our learning contexts are designed to promote and respond to hauora/wellbeing through the following pou.

Taha Wairua - My Spiritual Needs

We build our spirit, it is what gives us meaning. We celebrate our own story: who we are, what we believe, where we belong and where we are going.

Taha Tinana - My Physical Needs

Knowing how our body grows, feels and moves, and how you care for it. We nourish and strengthen our physical wellbeing to help us cope with the ups and downs and life.

Taha Hinengaro - My Mental and Emotional Needs

We are in control of our mind:. We know how we feel, how we think and how we communicate. We strengthen our hinengaro by doing things that make us happy, and being able to regulate our emotions.

Taha Whānau - My Social/Relationship Needs

Knowing we belong with immediate and extended relationships. We have a unique place and role to filful within our whānau and our whānau contributes to our wellbeing and identity.

Whenua - My Land/Roots

Ka ora te whenua, ka ora te tangata.

When the land is well, the people will be well.

We connect to our whenua (land) as this is the foundation for our four pou. When we take care of the health of our whenua, we are taking care of our own health and wellbeing.
