Whānau tangata

Tash Robertson - Te Rāwhiti Kindergarten —

Me whiri mai te whānau, te hapū, te iwi, me tauiwi, me ō rātou wāhi nohonga, ki roto i te whāriki , hei āwhina, hei tautoko i te akoranga, i te whakatipuranga o te mokopuna. The wider world of family and community is an integral part of early childhood curriculum. Most whānau hui have occurred over the last two weeks and these have been a wonderful opportunity for whānau and kaiako to reflect on the individual learning goals for our tamariki.

An important part of kindergarten is the idea of an unhurried childhood, in a world where there is increasing pressure and pace it is important for our tamariki to have space facilitated for them to explore and learn through play. Play is the tamariki's mahi and as the children grow and develop this play changes, each role as important as the next and a sense of tuakana-teina brings the mixed age groups together.

This week on our professional development day we are really looking forward to sharing in eurythmy with our school colleagues. Eurythmy is  a valued part of waldorf education and the wonderful benefits are often obvious as children get older and you see the awareness of themselves and others in space, the ability to work together as a team and their capacity to be present in the moment.

We will also sadly be saying farewell to Amanda on Friday and we wish her all the very best for her new role. We are grateful for all the wonderful gifts she has brought us and we will all miss having her in the office.

Playgroup is humming along with lots of new families joining each week. If you know of, or have children pre-kindergarten age please feel free to be in touch and come and visit our playgroup on a Wednesday or Thursday. Contact: enrolments@tera.school.nz for details.
