Do you love singing, but you're not so sure about your voice?
Let's play with that together!
The inner desire to express ourselves through song may be compelling, but the shame we feel for not being particularly “good” can override our ability to express ourselves authentically. Which is disheartening given song is one of the most powerful and decidedly simple means to transmute old ways of being, and connect with spirit.
But we have the opportunity to jump out of our western thinking of what it is to be 'musical' and a 'good singer' by utilising mantra, breath and deep listening to help us find our authentic voice and, more importantly, to enjoy using it!
Come join our Open Your Voice with Kirtan (Mantra) workshop.
Kirtan is the song-like version of chanting mantra, offered in a call and response style of learning. The repetition of the mantra deepens our connection to ourselves and to spirit, offering an embodied experience of the sacred.
Kirtan connects us to our innocence. You don’t have to sing in tune, or have any musical experience to be enriched by the atmosphere of kirtan. All children sing and hum to themselves; it is a natural bubbling up from inside to express contentment. Kirtan is not sung as a performance, it is to be sung like a child singing with the joy of simply being alive.
Facilitated by experienced kirtaneye Ahly, and Voice Alchemist Yee Ley, we will create a safe space to explore our own relationship to our voice, ensuring there will be a hefty dose of fun and playfulness, as well as heart-opening kirtans to orientate to. In our experience, when we orientate to what opens our heart, we find ourselves enjoying things we thought were once out of our comfort zone.
If this sounds like something you'd like to try, contact us to register your interest in this workshop. Details below.
