E oma! E oma! Run, run as fast as you can!

Alicia Whata —

Today we held our School Cross Country event with all our students stepping up and reaching their personal best with the sunshine beaming down on us.

We are so proud of all our GLS students who gave this event their very best effort after training hard for weeks, to improve their fitness and participate in our annual school event.

Cross country is a traditional NZ school event that encourages fitness, goal setting and perseverance and resilience regardless of their age and stage. Framing your family discussions around these key concepts will provide opportunities for you to share perspectives and strategies that you value as a family.

Congratulations firstly to all students who participated and completed this event and those speedy skilled runners at the front who placed in the top places. The senior placegetters will go on to represent GLS at our inter-school competition at the Inner City cross country event in a few weeks.

Planning for a school event is no easy feat. A big shout out goes to our Totara Teacher; Sandie Corlett for her skill in organising our cross country event. It was a successful day and we were thrilled to see so many parents and whanau come out to support our children. What a wonderful way to end our week; with the finale of a cross country celebration!
