Speeches 2018

The Arts Curriculum has been a huge focus for our school with particular emphasis on Performing Arts and speeches. In all teams across the school, there has been a focus on presenting some oral language aspect to an audience.

Public speaking can be a challenge at the best of times for adults and did you know that it is one of our greatest fears we have? For our students the learning focus is on the purpose of WHY we present speech to an audience. Is it to entertain, persuade or inform? The speeches we have been privileged to hear last week from our finalists; ranged from the 'Life of a Lunch Box' to ‘Weird Sports’.

Congratulations to all our students who challenged themselves to present in front of an audience, and those who were selected to share at our speech finals. What courage and connection was evident at the final. Come along to our school assembly on Friday to hear our winners share their speeches.

Remember that we have seven sleeps until our Grey Lynn School Production: From the Ground Up! The rehearsal on Monday was a huge success and our students shone on the stage; and that was not because of the lights! The venue is outstanding and the hospitality and organisation from the Team at the Victory Church venue; was humbling.

Looking forward to seeing many of you next Wednesday evening at 7pm. I know that you will enjoy the very special evening celebrating our student performances.
