Inner City Basketball

Grey Lynn School —

Inner city basketball was a huge clash of around 14 teams all playing each other, trying to win the 2019 tournament.

For some kids it may have been their first time, but everyone played like they were stars in the NBA trying to win the world cup. There was a placing of 1st, 2nd and 3rd but it was easy to tell that all the teams were playing fair and were trying their hardest. There were 2 teams from each school that participated and there were a total of 7 schools. I think Grey Lynn played well even though they did not win, and it was very fun to participate. It started at 10am at the Trusts Arena in Henderson and ended around 2pm. We had breaks in between the 10 minute games to have some water. The referees of the games were from Pasadena Intermediate and I think they may have been new because there were a few wrong calls but it is understandable because they are new just like us kids. I hope next year there will be another tournament.
