A new chapter has begun at Grey Lynn School as we officially started today in our new space; Kawharu as DAY 1!
Our day started on the courts, with a blessing by Taura and a walk through each new space. Each class followed their teachers to their spaces and explored their environment.
Teachers and students shared wonderings and their expectations about routines, learning and working together. There was a sense of calm and enjoyment in all spaces across our school.
Congratulations to all our staff for their planning, preparation and support of each other to prepare for our students. We had a fantastic day and our students agree; we all love our spaces! See our photos today for the evidence!
Some staff reflections today:
“The tone in all spaces calm and quiet and buzzing”
“There was a nice vibe”
“I loved working with the other teachers”
“Feels like the children have lived here forever”
“It feels like we have exhaled”
“The spaces have cotton fluffy acoustic sound”
Some student reflections today:
“I noticed how nice everyone is getting together and how nice everyone is to each other”
“It’s like a new start and it is big; you get your own learning spaces”
“I really like how we can all work together in it”
“It’s really quiet and we have seemed to get it quieter with even more people”
“It’s bigger and it is easier to move around”
“There are three different teachers and get to meet more people and you get to spend time with more teachers”
“You can look out and see all the houses around”
I couldn't be more thrilled and proud of our new beginning.
