Updates from Auckland Transport - 25 July 2018

Auckland Transport —

Designated Parking space outside school.

The Auckland Transport Traffic Safety Team have advised that our proposal for a designated parking space has been declined as the approach site distance is not met at the zebra crossing, meaning that while cars are parked at the restricted parking the oncoming vehicles wouldn’t have the vision to see pedestrians crossing which enables them to stop on time and may cause serious harm.

Since the proposal has been declined, the road development team are investigating options for different areas to have safe parking for Grey Lynn School and currently in the process of proposing 2x restricted car parks at northern side of bus stop towards Richmond Rd.

Proposed residential parking zones (RPZs) in Grey Lynn and Arch Hill

  • The boundary of the zone in Grey Lynn has been adjusted, and now excludes a number of streets. Please refer to the new map.

  • A number of streets in Grey Lynn will have time restricted (P120, Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm) parking on one side and unrestricted parking on the other side. This will help improve parking availability during peak times while retaining some unrestricted parking for longer use.

  • The P15 carparks on both Dean and Kirk Streets in Arch Hill will be retained.

  • Aiming to implement the RPZs and time restrictions on certain streets early in 2019, subject to resource constraints and traffic control processes.
