2019 Athletics- by Anya Whanau 17

Grey Lynn School —

On Friday 8th November, Grey Lynn School’s 2019 Athletics was held at Grey Lynn Park.

For a whole day, kids get to participate in activities that happen in the olympics. Activities varied from sprints to shot put, long jump to discus, high jump to hurdles, and so on. Every kid participated, all taking part in their age group.

Thankfully, there was no rain.

Unfortunately, when there’s no rain,

There’s a blazing hot sun!

A hat and many many bottles of water and sunscreen were needed to keep us hydrated and safe from the sun. Then we were ready to start Athletics.

Athletics is a a great opportunity to experience different sorts of sports that aren’t your typical soccer, rugby or netball.  You might have seen activities like these on TV while watching the Olympics. That’s what makes this day extra fun.

You can feel like an Olympian!
