Kelmarna Garden Trip

Grey Lynn School —

Room 6 and 7 are learning about nature and growing plants to create sustainable futures

Go and have a look in Room 7 at their magnificent planter box built by a parent, for our students and what they have growing in there.

Both Room 6 and 7 are going to be visiting Kelmarna Organic Garden & City Farm as part of their learning this term.

Yesterday was the turn for Room 6.   Adrian Roche, Kelmarna Garden Manager, toured us around the garden and food forest finding things for us to sample and taste. We then had a composting workshop were we made a bit of compost and we planted some sunflower seeds for their garden and some for us to bring home. We patted a chicken, touched some worms and even saw a horse.

If you are keen to see Kelmarna Gardens for yourself, it is open to the public everyday. You can sign up to be part of the soil factory by bringing your compostable scraps from home too.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful parents who came along on our trip as we can't leave the gate without you!
