Aloha 2019

Alicia Whata —

What a wonderful community celebration ALOHA19 was! The food, weather, students and staff and our talented line up came together to make a fantastic night!

Thank you to the incredible organising team that made Aloha19 the success it was! Rachel McBride, Rachel Sinclair and Marc Colenso.

ALOHA is a famous Grey Lynn School community event and it comes together, thanks to the generosity and effort of our wider community as follows:

Our wonderful performers who all generously donated their time, talent and musical genius.
● The Atomic Flowers
● Che Fu
● Running Stitch

Thank you to our MC, Cam Swainson-Whaanga

Grey Lynn Supporters
● Camelspace - for providing and putting up our fantastic stage
● La Lumiere - for the beautiful stage lighting and decorations
● Earwig - for the sound equipment
● sKids - amazing contribution and organisation for our students
● Cornwall Park District School - lending us their most popular dunking machine

Our food providers
● Barfoot and Thompson for the infamous Sausage Sizzle - such great supporters of our school
● Countdown and Hellers for the sausage sizzle ingredients
● Hana Sushi - a local favourite, we are lucky they are also parents here at GLS
● CLUB RED Sandie Corlett and her son James, for the fabulous gourmet sandwiches
● The families who have for many years now made the Pacific Island food - a symbol of Aloha and our community spirit. Thank you to the Tokuma, Talonoa and Fa’alogo-lilo, Chilwell families
● Zeb McCosh, a new parent at the school, for providing the drinks from Frucor
● Mands Gilchrist and her team of helpers for making the Lolly Leis

Our parent helpers
● Parent Net - thank you for coordinating the stalls this year and for those of you who are helping run a stall, count cash, pack up and pack down.
● Fundraising Group - Rachel McBride and her team for overseeing the event -in particular Marc Colenso for organising the night's entertainment, and Rachael Sinclair for the decorations. A group of clever creatives made the bunting - Melanie Jones, Ellen Bowen, Pene Gayford and Tanya Reynolds and the fabric flowers and palm trees which were also made by our students.

And finally our wonderful teachers and support staff and our children for their performances and making of the stall signs.

Whew! Just look at the many people and places it takes to make a village and event such as this successful!

Thank you; your support is valued.

If you have any feedback, ideas or improvements on ALOHA19 so that we can plan to make ALOHA 2020 even more successful; please let us know through an email or call in and let us know. Grey Lynn School has much PRIDE in our school community and supporters. Thank you.

Go well over the weekend.
