What is Wear Yellow for Harold?
On Friday, 13 June 2025, schools across the country will take part in a school-wide dress-up day where tamariki and staff can wear yellow or giraffe-themed outfits to celebrate Harold and support the important work of Life Education.
As that day Is a Teacher Only Day for Te Rerenga School, we have decided to celebrate Harold and all of his work with Life Ed, while he is visiting our school!
This exciting event encourages a gold coin donation, raising essential funds to help empower tamariki with knowledge about resilience, respect, and identity through Life Education’s programmes.
The Life Education journey began in Canterbury in 1988 in a static classroom.
They now work with schools throughout New Zealand, to reach children through the Health Science topic that is part of the New Zealand Curriculum. What they teach is always evolving – as are the needs of children. Our programmes are delivered in state-of-the-art mobile classrooms by Educators who are qualified teachers. The mobile classrooms are fitted with technology that provides a unique learning environment through audio-visual materials, interactive models (including a talking brain) and Harold, the Giraffe.
While the Life Education caravan is at school April 7 - April 10, the children will be focusing on the following topics:
Ruma Moana - Where does food come from? How do our bodies get energy from foood?
Ruma Whanga - Friends/Feelings
Ruma Awa - Kindness
Ruma Wairere - Empathy
Ruma Maunga - Basic Needs/Body Care
Ruma Rangi - Food/Nutrition
