Learning with Digital Technologies VISION

Paul Tyson —

“Marshland School provides seamless integration of up-to-date digital devices to equip students with the fundamental skills required to participate in an increasingly technologically driven world.”

It is widely recognised as necessary for people to have a basic understanding of digital technology and knowledge of how to make productive use of it in society. Our school acknowledges the importance of providing students access to the digital world. As a result, our school is committed to ensuring student access and effective use of digital devices in teaching and learning programmes.

To ensure students have access to devices, we have implemented a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme across Years 4-8. This allows students to personally format and manage their own device and learning using a personal device, encouraging learning that is accessible anywhere, anytime. Despite having a BYOD programme, our school continues to provide digital devices to ensure all students can access a device relevant to their age and stage of development.

Marshland School believes developing digital citizens is the key to online success. If we can educate our students to make informed choices when accessing online information, we believe our students will be well-equipped to navigate the ever-changing digital world.

While security is a priority for our students, we believe that strong teacher, student, and family connections are also the key to future security. You are welcome to talk with us about what cyber safety and digital citizenship programmes we provide as part of our teaching and learning programme.

‘ICT in education is the key to unlocking the skills and knowledge of our future generations of young people. It is the tool for learning for the 21st century.’ Kate McKenzie
