Term 1 Learning Conferences 2025

Paul Tyson

Kia ora whānau

Learning Conferences are held at different points throughout the school year to share student learning progress and achievement, including social and emotional wellbeing.

We will hold Learning Conferences on Wednesday, April 9th, and Thursday, April 10th, in Week 11 this term.

In response to whānau feedback from Learning Conferences held last year and to allow adequate time for each conference to cover social, emotional and academic learning (15 minutes) the school will be closing at 1:30pm on Thursday 10th April.

While we are entitled to close early and have Board support to accomodate Learning Conferences, we appreciate this can be very difficult for some whānau. As such, we are providing some supervision for those who may require it. Please note, this will be limited, as classroom teachers will be engaging in learning conferences.

If you are unable to pick up your tamariki at 1:30pm on Thursday, April 10th, please complete this form. We need this form completed to ensure we can staff supervision. Supervision will only be provided to those who have completed the form.

Please note the following:

- If your child is in Kiwi Gain or Kiwi Brooks, only students who started at the very beginning of the year (Cohort 1.1) will have a Learning Conference this term.

- If your child's teacher has contacted you regarding an IEP or CAP review meeting this will take place this term instead of a Learning Conference.

Learning Conference Structure

Learning conferences involve parents and whānau meeting face-to-face with Home base teachers to talk about their child's learning. It is beneficial if students are actively involved and also attend these conferences. However, it is the parental choice if they are included or not, as we recognise that many of our parents and whānau have different preferences. We appreciate this can also change from time to time, depending on different circumstances, e.g. student commitments outside of school etc.

Should you have any questions regarding your booking or conference please contact your child's homebase teacher.
