Marshland Carpark

Paul Tyson —

Please familiarise yourself with the following guidelines and car parking etiquette.

Kia ora whānau

We are very fortunate to have such a large car park available for parent use, as many schools do not have this luxury.

We are becoming increasingly aware of certain issues within our school carpark between 3 pm and 3.15 pm. These issues appear to be happening on a daily basis and we are now fielding complaints from within the school community around unsafe decision making by drivers, putting our students' safety at risk.

Our number one priority is, and always will be, the safety of our students.

Issues include:
1. Traffic queuing up to the lights at Preston's Road.
2. Parking on the edge/ curb of the surrounding car park area.
3. Double parking or stopping behind parked cars.
4. Driving through to the Ferndale pick up and drop off zone and staff car parking area.
5. Parking in areas clearly marked for mobility card holders.
6. Parents driving over the rubber stoppers held in place in the ground.

With an ever-increasing roll, there is continual pressure to arrive earlier enough to secure an appropriate parking space.

Should you arrive at our carpark and find there is no room to park safely and within a designated carpark, please continue to move through the car park area and exit back onto the road.

Please do not be offended if you are asked to move your vehicle.

We will continue to monitor the use of our carpark. Should we see a continuation of complaints we will have to consider what further options we can take to ensure the safety of all of our students.

If you wish to speak to someone regarding the carpark, have a suggestion or need clarity of our expectations, please take a minute to view the photos attached or email tyson@marshland.school.nz

I want to thank those who are already making safe choices and I look forward to your continued support on this matter. Once again, this is about the safety and well-being of our tamariki!
