We wish you and your tamariki (children) the best start to school life and will endeavour to make sure they have a wonderful first-day day.
Please phone us if you are concerned, but be rest assured that we would have phoned you if they had continued to be upset.
It is important parents show confidence in tamariki ability to cope on the first day.
Keep calm and smile as you say goodbye.
It is best if goodbyes are not dragged out. Say goodbye and go. It is OK for tamariki to cry. It is their way of expressing how they feel. Almost all tamariki are absolutely fine once a parent has left.
It is best if you don't sneak away. It is important tamariki do not feel 'abandoned'. Say goodbye and leave confidently.
Please let us know if you are having trouble, as it can be difficult at times for us to judge if you would like us to step in and support you and your tamariki.
