Topsoil Required and Gates Closed for the Holidays

Principal (Marshland School) —

We are seeking any Marshland School connections that may allow us to stockpile topsoil for our field remediation.

We seek Marshland School connections that may allow us to access and stockpile topsoil for our field remediation.

As many of you know, our school field is not in the best condition. This results from unexpected insect infestation at the beginning of the year, issues with our irrigation system over the Christmas holiday period, the scooter landscape project and existing issues with uneven surfaces.

We have undertaken several actions to address these issues, but this is a high cost to the school. Given the longstanding problem of uneven ground, we would like to enhance the soil and lawn quality in the whole main field play area. Many of our students find it challenging to play sports on this field due to the uneven surface and grass clumps.

As such, we would like to stockpile some lawn-grade topsoil behind the Toroa block to use, and we are asking if any of our community might know a way to access this and reduce costs.

If you have any connections, please email Wayne Joyner at joyner@marshland.school.nz

We have a number of projects and repairs occurring over the school holiday period. Due to this and COVID-19 Alert Level 2, our gates will remain closed over the school holidays.

While this decision supports the health and safety of our community, we apologise for the inconvenience. We know many of our students enjoy playing at school during these times, which we value as a community-focused school.
