If successful in gaining an interview at Te Rito Harakeke - Marshland School

Interviews for Teacher Aide, teacher or school leaders follow a behavioural interview technique. This is where you are a candidate's ability to meet the job requirements and person specifications based on their previous experience. The technique is based on the idea that past performance is the best indicator of future performance.

It is good to prepare for these interviews, drawing on your experiences, observations and reflections. There are a number of strategies available online to support your with this, such as the STAR technique. However, our principal recommends a more simplified approach using the BAO bun technique.

• B - Background - A brief background, giving necessary information related to the context

• A - Actions - A description of what you did or implemented and why

• O - Outcome - A brief description of the outcome or result. It is good to show a degree of reflection here. For example, what did you learn from the experience, and is there anything you would do differently next time?
