Beginning of the Year - Pūkeko (Yr 2)

Kellie Sim —

We have been getting to know each other in the Pūkeko Hub and remembering what to do at school.

The Pūkeko Hub tamariki have enjoyed seeing their friends again after the holidays and making new ones in their 2024 class.

On the first two days of school we did lots of art which the children loved. We made Pūkeko rocks by using flat rocks, paint and wobbly eyes. This process took a few sessions as we had to wait for the paint to dry before we could add the other layers.

We made Pūkeko hats by adding a red beak, eyes and feathers to a black band. We coloured the feathers in with crayon and used purple and blue colours.

The Pūkeko children have made a great start to the school year and the teachers in the hub are really looking forward to working with them over the year.
