Superhero Learners and Who Am I? - Pukeko (Year 2)

Matt Boyce —

At the beginning of this year the students completed some art work using crayons and dye to represent themselves as a Superhero Learner. We had to use grit and perseverance (Aumangea) as we needed to make sure that we had all parts included. We considered the orientation and size of our superhero to use up a majority of the canvas. They took a lot of care and effort (Ako) to make them look so amazing.

We also completed writing using some Heart Words and used these to start our sentences, which included: ‘I am…’, ‘I have…’, and ‘I like…’. The children were very engaged through this writing process and we all found out a lot of awesome information. We made sure to have our name on the back so we could work together (Ngātahi) and figure out which student had written it.
