Living Springs - Korimako (Year 5-6)
During Week 6, the Korimako Hub embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Living Springs Camp. Our journey began with a challenging yet rewarding walk from Governors Bay, making our way up the steep hill to camp. The trek tested our Aumangea (resilience), and our students showed incredible perseverance. When we finally reached the top, the sense of achievement was immense, and everyone felt proud of their efforts.
Excitement filled the air as students dove straight into their first round of activities that afternoon. From navigating the low ropes course to testing their aim at archery and rifles, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Other thrilling activities included bouldering on the climbing wall, zooming around the monorail, and making a splash in the swimming pool. After a full day of adventure, we settled in for our first night at camp, eager for what lay ahead.
Day 2 brought even more excitement as students rotated through the remaining activities. One of the most heartwarming aspects of the day was the strong display of Ngātahi (togetherness). It was inspiring to see students cheering each other on, offering support, and working as a team to conquer challenges. Whether it was balancing on the low ropes or aiming for the bullseye in archery, the encouragement and teamwork on display were truly commendable.
For many of our tamariki, this was their first-ever camp experience, and they embraced every moment with enthusiasm and bravery. We are so proud of them for stepping outside their comfort zones, trying new things, and making incredible memories. Living Springs Camp was a fantastic experience, and we can’t wait for the next adventure!
