Jump Jam!

Samantha Jones —

On Saturday the 22nd June Marshland School had three teams compete in the Strictly Jump Jam competition. As part of the Strictly Jump Jam category teams were required to perform an original Jump Jam song without costumes and without making any changes to its choreography.

The competition involved 16 Christchurch School teams and 3 of these teams included Marshland School children. These three teams began training towards the end of last term and have continued to give up many of the break times and even arrive at school early in order to practice and perfect their routines this term. As a school we entered a Year 4 team - The Marshland Movers, A Year 5/6 team - The Marshland Jammers and a Year 6/7 team - Marshland Magic. These teams were made up of boys and girls, enthusiastic and keen to give it their all on competition day. We were so proud of how all teams performed on Saturday and so were the judges! The Marshland Jammers were awarded an Excellence in Sportsmanship and a Merit for Technical Skill and Execution. Marshland Magic was awarded an Excellence in Technical Skill and Execution as well as being placed 2nd overall for the competition. The Marshland Movers were awarded Best Year 4 team for the day, an Excellence in Technical Skill and Execution and were named 1st place for the competition. Well done to all of those who competed on Saturday, you made us all very proud and represented Marshland School well.
