Once Upon a Pen - Korimako (Year 3-4)
In Korimako we are currently focussing on narrative writing.
Narrative writing is an important skill for our tamariki to develop and they have been doing a wonderful job of both acquiring new skills and further developing their already existing narrative writing skills. To introduce narrative writing this term we have used the lens of fables and have been focussing on five key features of a fable; characters, setting, problem, resolution and moral. Through the medium of fable writing the tamariki have been practicing skills such as writing using dialogue including the use of speech marks and structuring their writing and using their writers voice to develop their writing. The tamariki have been practicing these skills through creating their own fables. These fables have been well written and creative. It has been wonderful to see the tamariki using the Marshland Mana values to guide them in choosing strong morals that feature in their writing.
