Halves, quarters, thirds, fifths.... fractions of all types are being explored in the Tui hub.

Our current focus for mathematics in the Tui hub is fractions. We have been looking at how fractions make up part of a whole. We started by exploring 1/2, 1/4 and 3/4. The children have used equipment to be able to show fractions using a variety of materials. We are continuing to explore fractions including equivalent fractions, adding fractions, improper fractions. Some of our tamariki enjoyed using their name to make fractions.
