Knitting Club
Our Korimako Knitters are off to a great start thanks to our wonderful volunteers!
In support of our cafe initiative - knitting a peggy square blanket for 'Operation Cover Up' - we have a group of keen students busying themselves with wool and knitting needles on Tuesday afternoons.
Over the last couple of weeks a group of wonderful students and helpers have met to learn and practise the craft of knitting.
We've been lucky enough to have Mrs Teague's mum, Maureen Braun, who has volunteered for 'Operation Cover Up' for over 20 years in to help get us up and running. With help and guidance from some amazing parents and grandparents the students are quickly picking up the skills and keeping themselves busy during break times and at home.
The students are finding out it's not as easy as it looks and showing Aumangea (determination and persistence) even when they add or lose a stitch here and there.
We are hoping to practise more and contribute a few peggy squares towards Jeannie's blanket which will be sewn together for next year's collection.
We currently have a waiting list of keen students to join and are hoping to expand our group in Term 3, once we have a few more helpers.
Any parents or grandparents who think they'd like to help regularly on a Tuesday 1.30-2pm in Korimako, please get in touch with Rebecca Teague by email: teague@marshland.school.nz
