School Vegetable Garden and Orchard

Bex Osborn —

Our Garden is expanding - with new trees and plants is will become a destination!

This year, we have formed a gardening group that are going to have an extremely important role as we expand our vegetable garden, flower gardens and introduce an orchard.

We are one of three schools that have been accepted onto 'Orchards in Schools' for 2019.  As part of this we will be joining forces with Christchurch Horticulture Society to plant 16 fruit trees!  As part of this, our gardening group will also be making our Orchard and Vegetable area, a destination where all students will be welcome to come and enjoy the area - they hope to be including games, art, seating and more.

On top of this we are also hoping to create a 'Bee Friendly' Garden, with an array of plants that will attract bees, and help boost the population.

We will be maintaining our Vegetable garden, and aim to have it producing vegetables year round.

If you are interested in being involved, and supporting our venture, we would love donations of seedlings or anything that could be of use in our garden/orchard area.
