Canterbury Gymnastics, Canterbury Cross Country and year 7/8 Zones Basketball have kept the seniors busy over the last few weeks.

On June 15 we had 8 gymnasts compete in the Canterbury Schools Artistic Gym comp. Special mentions go to Kyla Cowles (Step 7) – 1st place, Siara Van Nobelan (Silver) – 1st place, April Mockford (Silver) – 3rd place and Ella Griffiths (Iron) – 3rd place.

22nd of June started off with a nice frost on the ground, the perfect morning for some cross country running. 14 athletes headed out to Ngā Puna Wai for the Canterbury Cross Country champs. This is the first year this venue has been used for this event and what a beautiful spot it was. All students raced their hardest in a competition that is on another level. With close to 200 kids in each race it is hard work! Special mentions go to Ruby Stace and guide Eilish for placing second in the AWD classification, Freya Manuel - 13th year 6 girl and Kaia Smith - 14th year 8 girl.

This week we sent two basketball teams to the Year 7/8 Zones tournament. The players showed awesome sportsmanship, determination and skill and had a pretty successful day. The girls team placed 1st and will now progress onto the Canterbury Tournament.

All of these events, like any event, can not happen without parent support. So I would just like to thank all of the parents involved in making these days as successful as they have been.
