Ditch the takeaway coffee cups - use ours instead!

Scarlett Noble —

After learning about plastic usage and the damage it is doing to our world, Toroa is on a mission to make some changes.

Do you fancy a fresh cup of coffee each morning? Do you have a reusable cup? Well not to worry! We have got that sorted for you! We are located outside of the coffee van with mugs for you instead of the plastic takeaway cups. It only takes one person to make a change and that person could be you.

Even better - if you use a reusable cup or one of ours, Coffee Skills will give you 50c off your purchase.

Do you know:

* It takes 50 Years for coffee cups to decompose?

* You can not recycle any part of the takeaway coffee cup in Canterbury

* No 'bio' cups are recycled or composted in Christchurch

* Coffee cups make up the largest volume of waste in rubbish bins

* New Zealanders throw away 300 million coffee cups a year.

On average Marshland School community use 14 takeaway cups from our Coffee Van daily.  Multiply that by 5 = 70 cups a week.  Multiply that by 40 weeks in a school year = 2, 800 coffee cups a year that are going into our landfill - each one taking 50 years to break down.

Make a change, be the difference, do your bit for the world - it all helps.
