We are sorry to inform you that Samantha Hill (Year 3-4, Tui) has resigned and will be leaving her teaching position mid-Term 3. Sam has made this decision in order to focus on her family and well-being. It was not a decision she made lightly, as she has enjoyed her time teaching at Marshland School - Te Rito Harakeke over the past six months. 

We are going to miss Sam's warmth, kindness and great sense of humour, but we know we will maintain a sustained relationship with her due to her being part of our school community. Sam has been a committed teacher and has given a lot of energy to providing quality teaching and learning in the Tui (Year 3-4) learning team. We know this will impact our tamariki, particularly those in Tui Hill. 

We are working hard to employ a new teacher for this role and will do our best to ensure we support tamariki through this transition. We will inform you once we have made an appointment. 

We look forward to Katie Brooks starting as a new teacher in the Kiwi Learning Team (New Entrant - Year 1) at Marshland School - Te Rito Harakeke for the beginning of Term 3. Katie has been appointed at this time due to roll growth. She has been in twice to engage with tamariki and ensure a smooth transition, as they move from Ann Gain's Homebase to hers. 

Katie is an experienced teacher with a range of qualifications, including a Bachelor of Education, He Papa Tikanga (certificate in Mātauranga Māori) and Postgraduate Certificate in Digital and Collaborative Learning. She also has wonderful expertise and experience teaching in the Junior area of the school. For example, she has previously held a number of leadership roles which include Inclusive Education, Junior Kapa Haka Roopu, Curriculum Development, Science and Positive Behaviour for Learning. We are thrilled with this appointment and know that Katie is a great fit for our high-performing, positive and committed team of staff.
