Te Rito Cafe
Te Rito Cafe will be opening at Marshland School - Te Rito Harakeke.
We are excited to inform you that we are opening Te Rito Coffee at Marshland School this term. This coffee shop is being set up in the school foyer between the staff and the new community shared space, a planned building alteration to be completed by the end of 2021.
Coffee, tea, chai and hot chocolate will be available for sale each morning for tamariki, parents, whānau and staff from our own barista and coffee shop manager. Jeannie has previous experience starting and managing a primary school-based coffee shop and is a skilled barista who consistently makes good coffee.
This venture provides excellent opportunities for our school and community. Some of these benefits include:
- Fundraising opportunities, with all profit going back to the school, supporting key projects to benefit tamariki and their learning.
- Promote community engagement, with parents and whānau welcomed into the coffee shop and surrounding foyer area. This will become a warm and inviting place to sit and interact with other whānau, or simply grab a quick coffee and head off to get on with your day.
- Student customer service work experience. Our Year 7-8 students will have the opportunity to work in the coffee shop before school, alongside the barista making the coffee.
- Enhancing relationships and partnerships between staff, tamariki, parents and whānau.
Te Rito Coffee shop will promote the use of Keep Cups, which will be available to purchase on-site. Otherwise, all of the takeaway cups and lids used are completely plastic-free and fully biodegradable.
We are really excited about this opportunity and the positive benefits for our school culture and tamariki. You will be kept informed of progress and further information over the coming weeks.
We look forward to sharing a coffee with you soon!
