End of Term Reports

Paul Tyson —

Your child's end of term report will be released to whānau on Friday 8th April after 3 pm. Please keep an eye out for it in your inbox or through our Hero app.

As communicated in a previous newsletter article, we changed our progress and reporting practices last year. These changes provide you with historical information about your child's progress and clearly indicate how your child is achieving based on curriculum level expectations for their year level/age.

From the previous article, you may recall that we are now breaking New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) levels down into four sub-levels. Each NZC level is expected to take appropriately 2 years to progress through. Using four sub-levels, rather than the three we previously used, we can better track progress over a six-month and one-year period. The following table provides a visual example of this NZC curriculum and sub-level breakdown.

It may be necessary to note that Hero has two-anniversary dates.  These are at the end of Term 2 (mid-year) and Term 4 (end-of-year). As we are only in Term 1, Hero shows where your child is currently sitting based on where they need to be by the end of Term 2. There is still another term of learning to make progress required to reach this benchmark, so please don't be alarmed if your child is not at this expectation quite yet.

No student will progress in a consistent trajectory (e.g. a perfect vertical line on their graph) through New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) levels over their time at school.

If a teacher was concerned about your child's rate of progress, you would have already been contacted.

In this reporting cycle, you will see an updated general and reading comment. At the end of Term 2, we will be releasing updated math and writing comments.

Please feel free to contact me at tyson@marshland.school if you need support to access report information on our HERO App.
