Supporting staff to move to Open Space Learning

Nathan Walsh —

New buildings and new opportunities!

Sally Hayes and Rosa Hughes-Currie have been supporting staff to move from traditional classrooms to open space learning environments. Te Puna Wai o Waipapa has two new buildings for 2022 and the design of these buildings provide new opportunities for teaching and learning. Auripo has one large double sized classroom which will enable co-teaching while Wainuku has three open plan learning spaces to enable greater cross curricular learning. Sally and Rosa have created and led a Professional Learning Group where they have facilitated several hui to support staff to think about and trial different teaching and learning approaches. Te Puna Wai o Waipapa is very lucky to have these new open plan buildings and we are grateful to have the expertise of Sally and Rosa who have significant experience teaching in open plan spaces. Both having previously taught at Western Springs College in Auckland before joining us at Te Puna Wai o Waipapa this year. Rosa and Sally (until December!) are happy to support you with any teaching and learning matters in Auripo or Wainuku in 2023.
