Improving the student experience when transitioning to Secondary School.

Sarah Parder and Nathan Walsh (Teachers at Hagley College) are looking to work with other teachers within the kāhui on a project to examine the student experience when transitioning to a new school. The project will target important transition points in to school, such as moving from preschool to primary school, or from primary or intermediate to secondary school. This project will likely involve identifying and working with students and their families who need extra support to transition to their new school. Developing accurate information and knowledge building for teachers and pastoral staff is also a likely outcome of the project. Another separate component of the project will involve auditing and improving communication from schools to whānau.
