2021 across-kāhui project: placed based learning

Mike Fowler - Kāhui Community Leader, Hagley —

Giving back to the community, foregrounding the Ngāi Tūāhuriri cultural narrative, and acting as kaitiaki protecting and looking after the environment are features of ākonga /tamariki led placed based projects.

Our collective of schools and ECEs plan to take on a kaitiaki role in the Avon Loop by protecting and looking after the environment in this area. We are keen to work with all the stakeholders connected to this special part of Christchurch, including current and past residents, Mana Whenua, heritage groups and community groups. We are excited about the work that could be done looking after and improving the land, as well as recording its history.

Several articles in this E News focus on placed based learning as part of our future-focused learning achievement challenge.
