Sean Bailey —

As we head towards the end of the term it's important to reflect on some the highlights from Term 2.

We have had a major health focus over the term. Our Year 1-4 learners have been working on a Keeping Ourselves Safe unit with Constable Debbie and the Year 5-8 learners have worked with Jen, Pip and Maree on a Sexuality Road programme called Discovering Me

On top of this, Constable Rick and Brad have been onsite to run  a Cycle Safety programme with our Seniors and a Stepping Out road safety programme with our Juniors. This initiative came as an identified need/ action in our Safe Travel Plan.

On behalf of our school community I would like to acknowledge Constables Rick, Debbie and Brad for connecting so well with our learners. On Wednesday we had a special morning tea to thank Rick for all he does for our school. His support is incredible.

Another highlight would have to be the School Disco last Friday.  This term it was decided to have one disco instead of a Junior and Senior disco. I was really impressed with how responsible our learners were and how well everyone interacted with each other. The arrival of two fire engines added further excitement! A huge thank you to LINK for organising this community event for our learners. We really appreciate all you do.

Here are some extra highlights from our learners:

"I have enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. Learning is really fun at Lemonwood Grove". - Dylan

"I have enjoyed maths and writing this term. I like how we can write in quiet spaces". - Mariah

"My Linc and Inquiry have been my highlights this term because they are different and interesting and something to look forward to".  - Hunter

"I have really enjoyed reading, writing and maths this term because they are fun and they help me learn more". - Lexie

"I like doing reading because I get to learn new words. I am good at reading". - Carter

Next week we welcome Mark Bell and Ann Bodkin from the Education Review Office. Our last Readiness To Open ERO report was very positive. This visit will look at how well we have embedded our Vision, Values and Beliefs.

You are welcome to attend our mihi whakatau on Tuesday @ 9:30am in the hall where we will officially welcome Mark and Ann.

Ka kite anō
