Sean's Spot

Sean Bailey —

Term 4 is going really well. It's hard to believe we are almost half way through the term. As I write this spot, I am sitting in the Tui space enjoying the opportunity to catch up with our learners and talk to them about their learning.

Our School Athletics Sports last week was awesome. Our learners really enjoyed the opportunity to gather together in their tribes to compete together during the morning. It was great to see so many parents and family members come and support during the events. A huge thank you to Anna and Maree for organising as well as LINK for organising the sausage sizzle. Your support for our school is really appreciated.

Our school discos on Friday were epic. Our learners really appreciated the opportunity to have some fun with their peers however we did miss Mel our resident school disco queen.  Thanks again LINK for organising this 'fun' raiser.

Last week Murray, Jacqueline and Graeme from the Education Review Office spent 3 days at Lemonwood Grove School carrying out an external audit. The data collected will be formulated into a report based on our progress as a new school after nearly 3 years. They reported their emerging findings to the Board of Trustees last Thursday. The feedback was incredible and highlights all the hard work which has been put into place to cater for our learners needs. The final report will be made available to our community early in 2020.

On Tuesday I had the privilege of attending the Kids For Kids concert. Our 23 learners joined hundreds of other children from schools across Canterbury and performed in a mass choir under the direction of two well known New Zealand singers - Jackie Clarke and Nathan King. Thank you to Jacqui our choir teacher for all the hard work she has put into the choir and Jennie and Theresa who provided  support.

Kopara (Year 5-8) are well underway with the organisation of their Market Day. They are really digging deep this year especially around their enterprise skills. This week I signed a contract with Lewis and Lillie to hire out the hall, trestles, Grove  kitchen and Basketball courts. They drove a hard bargain!

Just to finish, we are in the process of reviewing our Celebrations of Learning (COL) that we have each term. If you have any ideas around how these could be improved, please email me. Our next COL is tomorrow @ 9:30am.  We hope you can make it!

Regards
