Sean's Spot

Sean Bailey —

On Tuesday I spent some valuable time in the Kahurangi and Maunga spaces.

Sitting down with Janes whānau at the beginning of the day, we had a great discussion around Santa Claus and Christmas which was fun. It's such an exciting time of the year for young children. In the afternoon I taught Theresa's whānau group. We read a favourite story of mine called 'Doctor Dog' by Babette Cole and sung a new song which was cool. Will and Meila got chosen to have a turn on our new outside trollies which they really enjoyed!

2020 Whānau Groups

By now you will know who your child's (or children's) new whānau teacher will be next year. Our staff have spent a great deal of time considering many factors around these placements. As mentioned last week, due to convincing the Ministry of education to provide us with additional staffing, we have tried to keep these groupings as small as possible. If you have any questions or issues around the placement of your child/ren, please contact their current whānau teacher.

Top Team

Our learners really enjoyed the Top Team Day yesterday. It was awesome to see our older learners supporting our younger learners during the challenges. Thanks to LINK and Jen for organising.

New Playground Promotional Video

A huge thank you to Emily (teacher) Tyler and Cayden who created a promotional video to share our LWG & Waitaha School Playground WHY. This will be attached to our two grant applications which are going to be submitted shortly.

New Staff Induction

On Tuesday our new staff spent the day at Lemonwood Grove. This was a great way to allow them to learn more about teaching and learning at our school as well as getting the opportunity to CONNECT with our staff and learners. Thanks Amy, Caitlin, Chris, Paige, Ruby and Emily. We are really looking forward to you starting next year.

Canterbury Zone Athletics

A huge congratulations to Caitlin, Kimberley, Josiah, Ruby, Natasha and Sophie who qualified for the Canterbury Zone Athletics that were held on Wednesday. We were really proud of your achievements.

Regards
