Our staff had a powerful day of learning last Monday. We visited two schools - Te Pā o Rākaihautū and Haeata Community Campus. Te Pā o Rākaihautū is a special character school that focuses specifically on developing culturally responsive practice. At Haeata we observed and increased our understanding of Learning Through Play. In the afternoon Liz from an organisation called Story Telling Schools came and spoke to us around using storytelling to increase oral language and writing across our school.
