The Principal's Journey

It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks at Lemonwood Grove School. As many of you would know, a change in environment, change in job or change in location takes time to adapt to and I am slowly learning/understanding more and more about the school.

My highlight last week was definitely the Ako Conferences as it was not a way I'd seen teachers interacting with whanau at any school before and as I made my way through the learning landscapes I learnt a lot as I saw learners leading conversations with pride. It was also a great opportunity to connect with parents who I hadn't met before. Praise is an outcome of success and I encourage our learners to enjoy it and although it shouldn't drive the learning, it is a happy outcome as recognition for diligence and dedication.

Lastly for those who saw me getting my photo taken outside the office on Friday, I am not a part time model but instead just like your parents were proud of you, my Mum who lives in the North Island was proud of me and wanted a photo of me outside my new school.
