Sean Bailey —

Wow, what a great term we have had at LWG. As we come to the end of our 9th term, we can see evidence of our school vision and values being embedded into everything we do and achieve together as a school community.

Our learners continue to be provided with a rich curriculum. Here are some highlights that have taken place over the last 11 weeks:

  • Visiting Waitaha and being given a tour by Maureen the new Principal
  • Taking part in 'Global Play Day'
  • Our Mihi Whakatau to welcome our new learners
  • Black Sticks Visit
  • New Zealand Army Band performance
  • Year 2-8 Camps
  • Kahurangi and Maunga trip to explore the shoreline
  • Science in a Van performance
  • Year 5 & 6 Cricket Carnival
  • Our school Disco
  • Year 3 & 4 Sports Spectacular
  • Year 5 - 8 Huxley Mountain Biking Race
  • Small Sticks Hockey Training
  • Faringdon East Best Start Opening

Our major school wide focus next term will be preparing for our first ever production which will take place in early term 3. Jennie and Maree will work with our staff and learners to make the magic happen.

We also have a number of other projects that are happening including:

  • Rolling out our new progression based reporting
  • Continuing Kapahaka. We are in the process of sourcing a new tutor as Anna is on maternity leave
  • Providing regular opportunities for our parents to link up i.e coffee and catch up
  • School Working Bee (date TBA)
  • Continuing to enhance our environment
  • Introducing further strategies to collaborate with Waitaha

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our amazing school this term. We really appreciate everything you do.

Just to finish off, one of my highlights this week was collecting some 'student voice' from some awesome LWG learners. See the photo below.

Have a relaxing break with your whanau and I hope the Easter Bunny delivers! We look forward to seeing  you back on Monday 29 April.

See you at the Celebration of Learning tomorrow @ 9:30am.

Regards
