Kidsfest Workshops for Year 5-8 young writers (ages 9-12)

Secret Super Heroes - unlocking a character’s hidden life with Melanie Dixon.

​12 July - part of Our World of Words, Leeston Library 10-12 (morning) and 1-3 ( afternoon) .

Melanie Dixon is a writer of flash fiction, short stories, creative non-fiction, and novels for children. Her work has been published and anthologised in NZ and overseas, and she has been short-listed twice for the Storylines Tom Fitzgibbon Award. She is a graduate of Hagley Writers' Institute.

Picture This! - painting with words with Gail Ingram

20 July part of Our World of Words Lincoln Library 10-12 (morning) and 1-3 ( afternoon) .

Gail Ingram was the 2016 winner of the NZ Poetry Society prize and editor for the 2017 NZ Poetry Society anthology “after the cyclone”. She has recently completed her first anthology in which she uses quirky poetry forms to tell the story of a graffiti artist in post-eq Christchurch. Gail has a Masters of Creative Writing and is also an award-winning writer of flash fiction.
