Blair's Bulletin
Term 1
It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of the term (Friday, 11th April).
It has been a busy term for staff and students as we navigate changes to government policy and legislation.
Staff
I want to acknowledge the staff as they have embraced new learning and have approached the changes positively.
The learners are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated group of teachers who are committed to ensuring all learners are living our vision of 'the best of you as you'.
Learners
The learners have also embraced the changes by stepping up and working hard to ensure they are making progress towards their academic goals.
The feedback on the new Oxford Mathematics books has been positive from the learners I have spoken with.
Community
I want to thank you all for your involvement in school life, with a record number of parents attending whānau conferences. I also appreciate your support and understanding of Curriculum Only Days, which allow the staff to focus on developing their knowledge of the new curriculum documents.
Grandparents Afternoon
Thank you to all who attended Grandparents Day. It is the best-attended event on the calendar, and we absolutely love having you here.
I also want to acknowledge those grandparents who took on the role of those who didn't have grandparents attending. I absolutely love seeing how a community can come together to support each other.
As a school, we do our best to accommodate those who have grandparents overseas or in other parts of New Zealand by providing a Zoom link. However, we appreciate that it can be a difficult event for some and want to acknowledge all those who have family overseas.
We look forward to this event in 2026.
School Values
Our school values are G.R.I.T., and I encourage you to talk to your children about them because they are transferrable to everyday life.
Grit
Responsibility
Integrity
Thinking
It is important to grow as people and being focused on these goals helps us grow into wonderful members of society.
Board Elections
The School Board (formerly Board of Trustees) elections are taking place later this year. I fully support you attending a meeting if you are interested in learning more about the School Board and how it works before making a decision about standing.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday 21st May at 6pm and this will be held in the staffroom.
Holiday Break
I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday break, enjoying time spent with family and friends. All of the staff look forward to welcoming you back on Monday, 28th April.
Please note that the staff are on break and are not always available to respond should you have any questions or queries during the holiday period. If you do require information, please make contact with me if your matter requires immediate attention.
