Sean's Spot

Sean Bailey —

Our learners are super excited to be performing in our first Lemonwood Grove Production next week.

This production is very unique because it has been written by our learners and staff.  It is a great opportunity to celebrate the diversity that exists across our school community. You're in for a real treat.

Teachers As Learners

One of our responsibilities as leaders and teachers at LWG is to continue to increase our understanding of effective teaching and learning practices. Being 'the best of you as you' also applies to our staff!

One strategy we use to learn together is Professional Learning Groups. This year we have four groups (Cultural Responsiveness, Relationship Management, Learning through Play and Writing). At the beginning of the year our teachers selected a group that they are passionate and interested in. When we use this approach, it empowers people (including children) and allows greater ownership and agency.

Yesterday we had a great workshop after school. Each group spent time developing new knowledge in their groups using a thinking model called Spirals of Inquiry.

At the end of the session we came together as a whole group to share what learning had occurred in each group. As a leader I am so proud of our staff and their continued desire to learn and improve.  This has a huge effect on the outcomes that we achieve in our spaces with our learners everyday.

Principal Support Day

Our learners really enjoyed dressing up in green last Friday to support myself and other principals across the country as we go about negotiating our collective contract. During the day I had a trail of visitors coming down to admin to share art work and messages which was very cool. Thank you for your support, it is appreciated.

300 Learner Drone Shot

A huge thank you to Bevan Lewell an ex Board member and parent who captured our staff and learners recently using his drone to celebrate a big milestone in our school history.
