This weeks reminders

Sean Bailey —

Parent help with trips and sports events.

At the moment we are experiencing issues around getting parents to assist with Education Outside the Classroom, such as Winter Sport on a Friday. Recently we needed to cancel our basketball competition because there were not enough parents to assist with transport which was disappointing for our learners.

We acknowledge and understand that often both parents work and it is difficult to take time off to assist however we do have  Health and Safety guidelines that stipulate that we need certain adult/child ratios on all experiences that take place outside of Lemonwood Grove School.

If you think of a solution to this problem please let me know e.g asking grandparents to assist. Our aim is to continue to provide a rich curriculum for our learners, however we often do need your support in order to achieve this.

Ako Conferences

We hope you enjoyed your Ako Learning Conference earlier in the week. We would appreciate your feedback on this event to help us improve and refine future Ako Conferences. Please take five minutes to complete this short survey. Thank you for your support with this.

Toys at School

Please remind your children to leave their toys at home. This will prevent upset when things are damaged or lost. Thanks for your support with this.

Safety Vests

As you know every learner at LWG is issued with a safety vest. Can you please make sure it is worn to school every day. Our job is to ensure it is worn home.

Kai Eating

At the moment on cold days, our learners are coming into the hall/gym to eat their lunch. They sit on seats or picnic rugs and either chat to each other while eating or watch some cool clips projected onto the big screen. This is another awesome Tuakana Teina opportunity.

Wig Wednesday

Wig Wednesday is an annual event that helps raise awareness and support for the Child Cancer Foundation and raise funds to support Kiwi kids with cancer. A number of our learners got behind this great fundraiser this week. Thank you for your support. We raised $181.00.

New Enrolments

If you know of any families who are intending to enrol their child(ren) at Lemonwood Grove, can you please get them to contact Sarah: office@lemonwoodgrove.school.nz.

Car Park Working Bee: Sunday 24th June 10am - 12pm

Our carpark safety modifications will take place in the holidays. The major upgrade to the carpark is the conversion of the central garden strip to a paved walkway to allow a safe passage from cars to the school gate.

We would like to save these plants from this strip and re-use them around the school grounds. We are intending on creating a new garden around the new sign at the corner of the school (Lemonwood Drive and Charlbury Avenue).

We need some labour to remove the plants from the planted strip in the carpark and relocate them within the school grounds.

What to bring: Spades, shovels and wheelbarrows, and your energy.

Time: 10am-12pm

It would be great to have a good turnout for this event - refreshments will be provided and this will be a good chance to connect with members of the community!

Sports Update

This term we have had a large focus on sport, particularly with our seniors. Next term will be quieter with swimming in week 9 and 10, Koru games in week 9 and our EOTC activity (skiing for year 5-8, year 1-4 TBC).

Ski Trip Yr5-8

All year 5-8 parents have been emailed a link to complete in regards to the ski trip on the 10th August. If you have not filled this out can you please follow this link before Friday 22nd June. Ideally we are wanting all our year 5-8 learners to attend this but understand if this is not possible. There is the option of paying a weekly amount into the school account for the ski trip. This is an easy way to pay it off prior to the event.

Winter Sport Yr-5-8

We have decided not to enter into winter sports again for term 3, but instead run our own sports on a Friday. If there are any parents/family members or people in the community who are keen to come and give our learners a lesson in a sport that they are familiar with then please email Pip at pipm@lemonwoodgrove.school.nz

Hockey & Football Tournament

This will be next week on Wednesday 27th June for Y5-8 learners.  Please hand back all permission forms by Friday to the office.

Board Professional Development

On Saturday our Board of Trustees will be participating in a professional development day which will be facilitated by Tom Scollard from the School Trustees Association. We thank them for their hard work and commitment to our school.

Disco Reminder

Lemonwood Grove Schools first disco for 2018 is this Friday 22nd June from 5.30pm until 7.30!  See below for more information.
